Hang away from direct sunlight.
Always keep painting upright or face up, and treat artwork as FRAGILE. Have the artwork framed by a professional who knows about pastels.
If your painting is delivered framed, care has been taken to limit dust from the delicate pastels; however, should flakes or dust appear on the inside of the glass, the artwork can be removed carefully, the glass cleaned, and the artwork gently returned to the frame.
Avoid knocking the framed pastel against anything. To clean the outside of the glass, spray a soft cloth with Windex – don’t spray the glass itself.
Pastels will last for centuries! Ancient cave drawings were the first. Some very famous pastelists include Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Camille Pissarro, Auguste Renoir, and James M. Whistler.
